One of the defining characteristics of Film Noir is the fatalism of living in a world that is incapable of dealing with new and emerging threats:
Film noir is a stylized genre of film marked by pessimism, fatalism, and cynicism. The term was originally used in France after WWII, to describe American thriller or detective films in the 1940s and 50s.
This feels similar to the world that cybersecurity teams live in now. Cybersecurity professionals must defend against threat actors with seemingly unlimited resources that operate outside of the law, and, in some cases work directly with law enforcement.
In the meantime the defenders deal with limited budgets, constrained resources. inadequate tools to do their jobs and law enforcement that can offer guidance but can't stop the bad guys.
This is the mood of many Film Noir movies and the Pulp Detective novels that preceded the advent of Film Noir. Really the only thing that is missing from most cybersecurity activities is the classic Femme Fatale.
These are the stories we want to tell at Green Archer Comics. We'll let the rest of comic book world have their Superman and Spiderman style overpowered heroes. We need to tell the stories of street level heroes taking on a corrupt system, a system that traditional law enforcement, and society at large, is not prepared for or equipped to deal with.
We are just getting started, so we aren't taking on new submissions just yet, but if you want to work with us in the future or just want to say hi please drop us an email.
